Advanced Dental Services & Technology – San Ramon, CA

Using the Latest Gadgets
in the Dental World

Dental technology will make your experience in our dental office more comfortable and fun! New tools like intraoral cameras allow us to find tooth decay more efficiently than in the past. We can also give you a digital tour of your mouth, so you can understand our assessment of your oral health, as well as Dr. Deol's recommendations for treatment. Comprehensive dentistry is made easy with modern dental technology.

How Technology Makes Our Dentistry Better

Intraoral Camera

Dentist using intraoral camera to capture images of a patient's smile

Our intraoral camera is a small, handheld device that we’re able to easily maneuver around your mouth to see hard-to-reach areas. On the tip, there’s a high-quality camera that allows us to record footage and snap crystal-clear images of problem areas so we can further examine them or show you what we’re looking at. It’s also attached to a chairside monitor that allows you to see what we’re examining in real-time, that way, we can go into detail about how a suggested treatment will be able to address the issue.

Digital X-Rays

Dentist and patient looking at digital dental x-rays

In the past, dentists relied on film X-rays to see what’s developing beneath the surface of your gums. The device had a few downsides and safety concerns, including using chemicals that were harmful for the environment to develop the images and exposing patients to high levels of radiation. Today, we utilize digital X-ray imaging systems that produce clearer images, reduce radiation exposure by up to 90 percent, and can be quickly viewed and transferred due to their digital formatting.

CT/Cone Beam Scanner

Our in-office cone beam CT scanner doesn’t just show the area that lies below the gums like a digital X-ray does. It captures a detailed and full-bodied blueprint of your facial structure, highlighting nerves, bone, dentition, the nasal cavity, and even the sinuses. This allows us to accurately and precisely plan for specialized treatments like dental implant placement, providing amazing results. It also only takes our cone beam CT scanner about 10 to 70 seconds to capture these details, so you won’t need to wait awkwardly and uncomfortably like you would if you got a traditional CT scan.

Digital Impression System

Digital smile impression on chairside computer

Many patients are familiar with the process of having a large piece of gag-inducing putty in their mouth in order to form a dental impression for a restoration or mouthguard. At Oak Ridge Dental, we use a digital impression system to do this. It’s more comfortable, accurate, and less time consuming, making your appointment all-around more pleasant. Many studies also show that this process of capturing impressions over the traditional way helps prevent distortion and is ultimately more cost-effective.

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Patient receiving soft tissue laser dentistry treatment

Traditional surgical procedures that involve a scalpel and sutures are a thing of the past. Our soft tissue laser produces a small, concentrated light beam that allows us to kill harmful oral bacteria, re-sculpt the gum line, and complete a variety of other important treatments faster and more precisely than ever. The best benefit that our patients can enjoy from this technology is that the laser cauterizes the area being operated on on-contact, minimizing recovery times, bleeding, and other unwanted effects of having a surgical procedure completed.

The Wand

The WAND local anesthetic system

Do you have an upcoming procedure that may be a little more invasive than you’re comfortable with? You’ll be glad to know that our dental office is equipped with a special instrument, known as The Wand. This helpful device delivers medicine precisely while factoring in the density of the tissue of the area. This provides you with immediate relief without having to worry about collateral numbness, because it won’t affect an entire portion of your mouth, just the tooth or area being treated.

Panorex

Dentist using Panorex digital x-ray imaging system

Our panorex X-ray imaging systems are able to capture two-dimensional images of your mouth. They allow us to see your upper and lower jaws as well as your teeth at the same time. We use them for several different procedures, but they’re most helpful when it comes to assessing TMJ dysfunction, diagnosing gum disease, wisdom teeth impaction, and detecting oral cancer. Typically, we only recommend getting these images every five years, or when a special situation permits the need for it.
